On May 28, Beijing time, according to reporter Max Lewis, 24-year-old Pacers fan Fink was arrested for stabbing two Knicks fans while watching Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals at a bar in Carmel, Indiana.
In interviews with the two victims, they said that Fink approached them on his own initiative at the bar. Fink reportedly "slapped one of the victims' Knicks hat to the ground" before he went outside, shouting "you, do you guys have any questions?" go outside and settle it".
About five minutes later, two Knicks fans appeared on the outdoor patio and Fink allegedly "broke through the brewery fence" and began attacking the two. One of the victims told police that he had "briefly flashed a black folding knife to deter [Fink], but then put it back in his pocket because it was used unintentionally."
The verbal altercation reportedly turned into a physical altercation, which ended in two victims being stabbed by Fink. When questioned by police, Fink said the two Knicks fans were "swearing" and claimed that the other party started the altercation first. He claimed that one of the fans pushed him to the ground and "started beating him in the face" before he "took a folding knife from his hoodie and swung it at [one of the fans'] back with his right hand."
Court documents show that one victim was stabbed in the leg and the other in the back. Multiple witnesses described Fink as "the main attacker in this incident." Fink was charged with assault with a lethal weapon, using a lethal weapon to endanger public safety, and other counts. Fink has appeared in court for the first time this afternoon local time, and the bail is set at $20,000. The judge ordered him not to have contact with the two victims in the case.
The Eastern Conference Finals G4 will be played today on the Pacers' home court, and in the first three games, the Pacers lead 2-1 in the overall score.
