The Thompson brothers are expected to play for Jamaica! In the future, we may join hands with Powell to expose more reinforcement targets

On May 26, Beijing time, according to Daniel Black, a reporter for the Jamaica Observer, Rockets player Amen Thompson and Pistons player Osar Thompson may represent Jamaica in the FIBA and may even play in the Summer Olympics. Mr. Black said the brothers had started the citizenship application process and were eligible because their father, Troy, was from Jamaica.

Amen Thompson, who was named to the All-Defensive Team this season and was promoted to the Rockets starter midway through the season, has become one of the league's most athletic players. Amen averaged 14.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in the regular season and 15.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.9 blocks per game in the playoffs. In a previous interview, Amen said that he hopes to wear the jersey of the Jamaican men's basketball team and believes that it is very meaningful to have such an opportunity.

Osar Thompson, on the other hand, overcame a health issue with a blood clot and secured his starting spot with the Pistons, who have improved one of the most in NBA history this season. Osar averaged 10.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 0.7 blocks per game in the regular season and 11.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per game in the playoffs.

Daniel Black added that Jamaica is upgrading its basketball program in a big way, with Clippers guard Norman Powell having committed to the 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifiers this summer. Other reinforcement targets for the Jamaican men's basketball team include Suns center Nick Richards, Pistons interior lineman Isaiah Stewart and Timberwolves forward Josh Minott, Black said.
