Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll is undergoing an MRI examination on his left hand due to an injury.

Outfielder Corbin Carroll of the Diamondbacks will miss his third consecutive game and is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his left hand while the team arrives in Chicago to play against the White Sox on Tuesday, Beijing time (Monday local time in Chicago).

Carroll was struck on the left hand by a pitch during a game last Wednesday night in Toronto (Thursday morning Beijing time), and the X-rays taken afterward at Rogers Centre came back negative. The next day, he was not included in the starting lineup, but manager Torey Lovullo anticipated that he would participate in the three-game series against the Colorado Rockies in Denver.

The team's caution stems from the case of catcher Gabriel Moreno: on June 7 (Beijing time), Moreno was hit on the right hand by a foul ball in Cincinnati, and the X-rays were negative; however, after missing several days and undergoing an MRI, no fractures were found. Yet, after returning for three games on June 11, 14, and 15 (Beijing time), he reported further injuries, and a subsequent MRI in Toronto revealed a minor hairline fracture, leading to his placement on the 10-day injured list on June 21, Beijing time.

Based on this, after Carroll did not start against left-handed pitchers, the team decided to arrange for him to undergo an MRI. "Due to the rehabilitation progress not meeting expectations, combined with the lessons learned from the Moreno incident, we must establish baseline data for the injury," Lovullo explained.

This season, the Diamondbacks have faced severe injury issues: starting pitchers Jordan Montgomery, Corbin Burnes, and minor league pitcher Blake Walson have all undergone ligament replacement surgery; relief pitchers A.J. Puk, Justin Martinez, and minor league pitcher Tommy Henry all require elbow surgery. Moreno's injury has further prompted the team to exercise extraordinary caution with Carroll.

Lovullo also bears the responsibility of boosting team morale: "Injuries can be distracting, and that's a reality. My job is to stabilize the course—despite the rough seas, the coaching staff must maintain consistent energy and a positive attitude, urging the players to focus on their daily tasks."
