The Korean rising star, Vivesa, of Congolese descent, has secured the men's 100-meter championship at the Korean Athletics Championships for two consecutive events.

Vivesa Daniel Gasama (22, from Ansan City Hall) has once again claimed the title of men's 100 meters champion at the All-Korean Athletics Championships, just 17 days after his previous victory. He won the final held at the 79th All-Korean Athletics Championships on June 22, with a time of 10.38 seconds.

Korea's 100-meter sprint hopeful, Vivesa Daniel Gasama (from Ansan City Hall), spoke to the media in May 2025 at the Ansan Wa Sports Stadium in Gyeonggi Province.

Although Vivesa had a slow start, he took the lead in the middle of the race and crossed the finish line first. The second place went to Kim Jeong-yun (Korea Sports University) with a time of 10.42 seconds. Park Won-jin (Gangwon Province Hall) finished third with a time of 10.465 seconds, narrowly beating Lee Chang-soo (Boeun County Hall), who clocked in at 10.468 seconds. Both Park Won-jin and Lee Chang-soo officially recorded times of 10.47 seconds.

Vivesa became a hopeful star in Korean men's sprinting during high school and entered the professional arena in 2022, but had never won in individual events until last year. Due to injuries to his thigh and ankle, he underwent rehabilitation for nearly a year from May 2023 to May 2024.

This year, Vivesa has once again garnered attention. He achieved his personal best of 10.29 seconds in the men's 100-meter final at the KBS Cup All-Korean Championships on June 5, marking his first victory on the professional stage. He also claimed the championship title at the All-Korean Athletics Championships, earning his second gold medal in the All-Korean competition.

Vivesa was born to parents from Congo but is a native Korean. He obtained Korean nationality with his mother in the third year of middle school and received "professional athletics training" upon entering Won-Gok High School. After experiencing a downturn after joining an amateur team, Vivesa has accelerated his progress again this year.
